What is a guardian home?
Guardian homes are a way to partner with us to give you a pet and give us the opportunity to breed a great dog that will make awesome puppies.
How does it work?
First you contact us and you submit an application. After you pass the 1st step we then do an interview and further determine if what you would like and what we need align. If you are interested in moving forward, we see if we have a dog that fits or if we will wait for a future puppy. Once it's time for go home you keep it at your house, take it to all vet visits until we are ready to use it to breed. We will make visits to the puppy periodically. Males are generally needed for a few days over 1 week at a time can be bred multiple times. Females are generally needed for a couple of days over the course of 14 days for breeding every six to eight months once they are of age. Then they will come back to us about 8 Weeks later to whelp nurse their pups for another 7-8 weeks. Every female's amount of litters varies based on each individual. When they are done breeding, we will spay them and sign them fully over to you.
What does the guardian home pay?
The guardian home pays nothing for the dog unless something of the guardian homes fault were to happen that would render the dog unable to be bred. At that time, the guardian home would be responsible to pay for the replacement cost of the dog. This is a predetermined amount that will be written in the individual contract and is based on the value of the dog. The guardian home also pays for all food, grooming and as well as any other extras for their pet including pet beds, kennels, toys, etc.
What does the breeder pay for?
The Breeder pays for initial cost for the dog plus any routine vet care, all genetic testing, all OFA testing, any costs associated with breeding and a bonus to the guardian home for each successful breeding.
What if there is an accident?
If something should happen to the dog while in the care of the guardian home, the guardian home will be responsible to pay the cost. If something happened while in the care of the breeder, then breeder would pay the cost.
